The next version of Firefox, code-named Shiretoko of which is currently under development, will be labeled as 3.5 instead of 3.1 as was originally planned.

According to the notes of the meeting today on Firefox, jump version aims to reflect more accurately the amount of changes from Firefox 3.0, the latest major version of last summer. These changes include tabbed browsing, great improvements for compatibility with Web standards, better JavaScript engine, and several new privacy features, including a new private mode that allows users to clean their entire business at the end of your browsing session.
The next beta, the third was kept as 3.1, while all the changes will be made in several development tools Mozilla

The code for this Beta 3 is now frozen, and the packets are taking place. The publication is estimated for next week after testing the quality team.

Furthermore note that beta 3 will not be the last, as originally thought, fourth beta will follow on the map for the near future with a great opportunity to include many more new features, in addition to solving some 100 bugs that have already been identified.

These new features and a small number of specific developments, it might be time for Firefox 3.5, including the search tab through the impressive bar, some tinkering with the theme for Windows, a page about: show me the user's profile Based on his record, the ability to clear the record by slotting of time, and many more features.

Update: Mike Beltzner, one of the coordinators of Firefox, has made it clear that despite what we read in the notes to the reunion, the decision of the change in numbering is not yet final.
