A couple of days ago I found an email from StatCounter announcing their new web site statistics we can see the percentages of use of browsers based on the statistics that they handle.
According to the data that we see in place, Firefox 3 has already passed to Internet Explorer 6 that still fall, so the version of Firefox 3 has become the second most used browser after Internet Explorer 7. It is also interesting to see that IE7 does not increase its market share at the expense of IE6, but which is growing is Firefox 3. We can also see how Firefox 2 is no longer used at the point of almost disappearing from the chart, which Mozilla achieves its goal of letting up only to version 3.According to StatCounter Internet Explorer 7 is 40.69% compared to 24.4% of Firefox 3.
We can compare these figures with those provided by Market Share by Net Applications or XiTi Monitor (via Asa Dotzler) and although there are differences in numbers, they agree that Firefox 3 has become the second browser, and the trends are the same. They are nothing more than numbers, but the way they used to and that developers will no longer worry about IE6.
Another idea is to set the days of the end of IE6 that would be December 31 this year.Beyond these initiatives, I believe that IE6 only, will fade.Users will continue to update Windows, it comes Internet Explorer 8 and Firefox continues to grow its market share.
