600 Million Downloads from Mozilla – New Milestone

Another huge milestone came to Mozilla company when their add-ons were downloaded over 600 million. However, this number only includes downloads from the add-ons site, it is not the whole story. There are about 100 million update requests on top of that every day. There is the picture on the top to describe the breakdown for the update requests. As you can see, there are more than 1 million update requests for Firefox 3 although it has been released only for a while.

On average, the add-ons site gets downloads around 800,000 to 1 million, and a whopping 5 million page views every day. All of these come from people who seek to receive one of 4,000 extensions hosted on the website.

It is excited to see if the integrated add-ons search tool in Firefox 3 can boost the usage of the extensions. Lots of users who have never installed add-ons before, may not be able to realize the extension of the Firefox browser.
